AgriTech is a smart agriculture platform developed to monitor, analyze, and optimize irrigation in medium and large-sized farms.

The project was initially implemented on an avocado-producing farm, focusing on increasing water efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring greater operational predictability.

Lack of continuous soil moisture monitoring and decisions based on estimates, impacting productivity and water consumption.

The solution

We developed an integrated IoT platform applied to agriculture, consisting of:

Platform on MacBook

1. Field Infrastructure

Layer responsible for continuous collection and secure transmission of data in an agricultural environment.

  • Soil moisture monitoring sensors
  • Gateway with LoRaWAN technology
  • Solenoid valve controller
  • Flow meter
  • Starlink integration for remote connectivity
  • Remote monitoring and control system

The sensors collect continuous data on:

  • VWC (Volumetric Water Content – Soil Moisture)
  • Soil temperature
  • Electrical conductivity (EC)

This data is transmitted via LoRaWAN to the central platform.

2. Smart Monitoring Platform

The AgriTech platform allows the owner to track, in real-time:

  • Daily sensor history
  • Comparative charts by monitored area
  • Recommended ideal irrigation ranges
  • Mild or severe deficit alerts
  • Automatic irrigation recommendation (in gallons per tree/day)
  • Estimated system activation time

Additionally, the system features:

  • Centralized dashboard
  • Farm map with georeferenced points
  • Detailed table exportable to Excel
  • Sensor and alarm management
  • 24/7 operation with remote support

The system provides full operational visibility and continuous decision support.

3. Intelligence Applied to Irrigation

The platform doesn't just display data; it generates automatic irrigation recommendations based on the ideal parameters defined for each crop. Example analysis:

  • Identification of severe moisture deficit
  • Automatic calculation of water requirement
  • Adjustment recommendation (e.g., 3.4 gallons/tree/day)
  • Estimated irrigation time

This enables fast and informed decisions, reducing risks and increasing efficiency.

Results

AgriTech's implementation was not limited to installing sensors or dashboards. The project structured a new operational base, allowing for informed technical decisions, greater predictability, and waste reduction across the entire production chain.
